Dabryn Norris, 22, of Brambleton and Taylor Ward, 21, of Leesburg were arrested in the past week following a scheme and burglary to steal a dog after Ward previously voluntarily surrendered custody of the animal.
Last month, a homeowner reported that a person forced his way into their home while they weren't home and stole their dog, Gelato. No other items were taken, including a second dog who was also inside at the time.
Norris and Ward were later identified as suspects by members of the Leesburg Police Department, and it was determined that the latter had previously owned Gelato before giving it up.
Gelato has since been returned to its rightful owner.
Norris was charged with:
- Stealing an animal;
- Breaking and entering;
- Conspiracy to steal an animal;
- Conspiracy to commit breaking and entering.
Ward was charged with conspiracy to stealing an animal and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering.
Both have been released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on $5,000 bond. No information about their next court appearance has been released by the police.
